Still in Life refers to the atmosphere perceived by the artist when she first visited the charred remains of the facility, emerging from an intimist period to one filled with solidarity and social purpose thus inaugurating a new creative approach which utilizes various expressive means. The exhibit is composed of a large light box, an installation, a photograph and a video produced with Giacomo Fabbrocino.

“Città della Scienza after the fire seems like a contemporary Pompeii, a site where horror and beauty come together”, declared Raffaela Mariniello. In fact, although painful, the images of the entire project reveal a secret poetry, the response of art to the profound wound of the fire.

Città della Scienza, the IDIS Foundation, under the direction of Alessandra Drioli, invited the photographers Antonio Biasiucci, Fabio Donato, Mimmo Jodice and Raffaela Mariniello to document the desolate results of the fire and to compose a sort of memorial collection. Each of the photographers worked at great length in the ruins to produce their impressions of the site. Still in Life is part of Raffaela Mariniello’s contribution.
