25 Paintings and 25 Studi per Paintings realized during the course of 2022 will be on display and – as of 10 October – the exhibition will be enriched by the arrival of 7 small wooden sculptures entitled Casette delle Pezzentelle created by De Lucchi for the crypt of the Church of Santa Luciella in Naples where they were on exhibit from 7 to 9 October as part of the EDIT fair dedicated to editorial and art design.

Both his drawings and his sculptures stem from deep reflection on color envisaged as a primary element of perception and identifying substance that distinguishes the home.

His Paintings, are an integral part of his exploration of architectural form. They are preliminary drawings of constructions, buildings, pavilions, houses, and monuments for projects and highlight the connection between art, philosophy and architecture in the author’s work. For De Lucchi, drawing is a form of meditation which activates processes of reflection, insight and synthesis of concepts, a personal exploration into the most profound significance of construction in which color always has structural value.

The Casette delle Pezzentelle are inspired by the popular cult of abandoned souls, and the nameless skulls that have inhabited and still inhabit the crypts and hypogea of Neapolitan churches. For De Lucchi, inserting small, colorful architecture in these contexts, as in the Church of Santa Luciella, signifies making the setting vibrant by giving a home to the abandoned souls who can thus find their identity in a dwelling. The different colors are intended to activate that sense of recognition that each of us seeks.
